The Six Stages of Generational Wealth
(A little different than Dave Ramsey’s.)
Most financial advice teaches people how to save their way to security. Our approach is different.
At Llewellyn Financial, we focus on helping successful professionals buy back their time, live with clarity, and build purpose-driven wealth that lasts.
We call it The Llewellyn Framework™ — Six Stages to Generational Wealth.
Each stage builds on the one before it. You can move through them — but you can’t live in more than one at a time. Here’s how the journey unfolds.
Stage 1 — Live Intentionally
Live on 80% of what you make. Create margin. Build discipline. Give 10%, save 10%, and know exactly where every dollar goes.
This stage isn’t glamorous, but it’s where freedom begins. Most people try to skip this step — they want to invest before they’ve mastered cash flow. You can’t multiply what you haven’t managed.
Stage 2 — Invest in Yourself
Use your 10% to grow — education, leadership, relationships, skills. The best investment you’ll ever make is in your ability to earn more.
Before compounding returns, focus on compounding capacity. This stage is about transforming effort into leverage.
Stage 3 — Expand Your Capacity
Now that you’ve built discipline and growth habits, it’s time to increase income 50–500%. You’re no longer just managing money — you’re multiplying it.
“Success without structure doesn’t last.” - Gabe Llewellyn
At this stage, structure matters. Taxes, savings, and investments need alignment. Rising income without coordination is just fancier stress.
Stage 4 — Build Margin
When income rises, lifestyle inflation follows — unless you stop it. Live on 50% of what you make, and invest the rest to build ownership.
This is where wealth starts to compound. Your money is now working for you — but only if your systems are simple, tax-efficient, and intentional.
Stage 5 — Buy Back Time
Shift from earning to owning. Build assets, systems, and investments that give you freedom over your calendar.
Financial independence isn’t about quitting — it’s about choosing. Freedom is the point where time and money finally align.
Stage 6 — Build What Matters
With freedom in hand, focus on what lasts — family, impact, and legacy. True wealth isn’t a number; it’s the ability to live with purpose and give with joy.
Most people stop at Stage 5. But Stage 6 is where life expands beyond yourself — it’s where wealth becomes legacy.
The Common Trap: Skipping Steps
High earners often try to leapfrog the process:
They jump from Stage 2 → 5 (chasing freedom without structure).
Or from Stage 4 → 6 (money without meaning).
Every skipped stage eventually shows up as stress. That’s why the sequence matters.
